Nayra Alonso

Having sat for three months on the hill & rocks at Ho’okipa and watched the comings and goings in the water, I can honestly say that nowadays you really have to know what you’re doing to stand out from the busy crowd in the water. One of the women that stood out to me was Nayra Alonso.

Hailing from Gran Canaria, Nayra is very much addicted to windsurfing! We met her last year in Maui and she was one of the warmest, friendliest people on the beach and carves up each of her waves with an intensity and passion that you just have to see. She won the World Cup Waves in Sylt in 2007 and her talent and expertise showed in the water at Ho’okipa. Congrats to Nayra on her recent marriage to John Skye!
